The price of frozen blueberry processing materials has increased by 20-25% compared to last year. The key to the price increase is that frozen blueberries ran out of stock for a long time last year and are now in a period of oversupply. Some deep processing enterprises have relaxed their quality requirements and prices in order to fulfill orders.

There are many varieties of blueberries in Yunnan, and according to local planting farms, there are at least 30 or more varieties. For example, the F series represents F6, F11, etc., the H series represents H5, and the L series represents L11, L25, etc., the Spanish series jewelry, Yurika, etc. Simply adding them up by variety requires at least 50 or more. However, in fact, some farms often name themselves to keep the variety confidential, which brings many benefits. It can be said that their products are new varieties with good quality, good taste, easy storage and transportation, and so on. In fact, 90% of blueberries in Yunnan are just a few varieties.

Yunnan blueberries are different from other provinces in that they have a short growth cycle, early production season, and high yield. Fresh fruit prices are relatively high. In order to better cater to consumers, some regions in Yunnan have started to change varieties and have replaced larger blueberry varieties. I have seen the largest blueberry with a size of 32mm, which looks similar to a strawberry. Most of the frozen blueberries processed in April are big fruits. After May, the fruit gradually became smaller and began to come in sizes of 12-16mm.

There are two main sources of frozen blueberry fruits: the first is poor quality fruits, and the second is fruits that cannot be transported anymore, including rain fruits. During the ripening season of blueberries in Yunnan, there is very little rainfall and there are hardly any rainy fruits. The processing of blueberries mainly comes from inferior and aged fruits, and this yield is limited every year.

Now is the time when frozen blueberries are out of stock, and many deep processing companies have not yet completed their blueberry product orders. The plan to mix blueberries has also begun, which may be the key to the current rise in blueberry prices.

With the delay of time, the blueberry production season has arrived in Guizhou, Hunan, Hubei, Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Shandong, Liaoning, Jilin, Heilongjiang and other regions. If there are continuous rainy days in the later production season, the deep processing of blueberry raw materials will increase exponentially. Of course, if it does not rain, the number of processed blueberries will also reach more than 20000 tons. The planting area of blueberries in China is too large. The centralized listing period is from June to July.

From a global perspective, China has the highest blueberry cultivation yield. In terms of cost-effectiveness, frozen blueberries in China are the cheapest. Even if there are cheap frozen blueberries imported from abroad to China, plus Shanghai freight, tariffs, and value-added tax, the price will be higher than domestic blueberries. Nowadays, the domestic market is competitive, and everyone can see that similar to frozen blueberries are the fluctuations of raspberries and blackberries. The increase in market fluctuations is a normal market reaction. When the real production season is harvested in large quantities, the price at that time is the most representative.
